For what it's worth, it may be because Vibe is no longer in print and doesn't hold the same cultural space as it did when it first came out. I'm 46 years old: those of us who waited with bated breath for a new issue very much remember when Vibe appeared on the scene and we all knew Quincy Jones was the founder. I do also think the larger media landscape was paying little attention to Hip Hop media - you know much better than I do - and didn't celebrate that at the time, if I'm remembering correctly.
