I could say it’s because The Wiz is coming back to Broadway. But really I’m sending all paid subscribers this dose of Saturday love because you support Shine Bright HQ in such a major way. I’m grateful.

The soundtrack to the original Broadway production of The Wiz is not at streaming, or I would have the whole thing on here. To me the OG soundtrack is superior to the soundtrack of the 1978 film version of the musical.

This playlist I’m providing here is the working story reference for the chapter in my Shine Bright that centers The Wiz. Story refs are lists of songs that I pull together because they’re mentioned in a story or chapter or script. They’re songs I need to hear a bunch of times while working. Songs that set a mood. Songs that enable me to make comparisons. Songs that made impact in the same year or era as what I’m writing about — so I can utilize, be stimulated by, and/or show context.
